winter chill

crackling fire
Snow
flakes hitting the holly’s
Glossy
leaves and
Shining
berries,
Hot
Mexican chocolate
With a
touch of cinnamon,
Zimtsterne and Springerle
the old German aunts use to make.
December reminds me
Of home
